How you can help
There are many ways you can assist our caring and liturgical ministries in St Michael's.

The parish holds discernment days each year, which allow parishioners to learn more about the different ministries in the parish, and weigh each against their skills and passions.

Use the contact page to request more information about our next discernment event.

Caring groups
Care for those who are sick or housebound.

Pastoral care is given to those who are sick or housebound.

If you, or someone you know requires pastoral care (or perhaps you would like to help in the Ministry!) please do not hesitate to e-mail the Parish Office, or phone (09) 520-1226.
  • Communion Ministers take Holy Communion to those who cannot come to the Parish Church, especially on Sundays. The sick and elderly have a lot of wisdom to share with the Parish. A caring group of men and women also regularly visit the rest homes and so share the vitality of the Parish with others.
  • There are prayer groups and study groups in the parish.
  • A Rosary group meets weekly.
  • There are some people with addictions to alcohol, gambling, sex, pornography. There are ways out of these! The 12 Step Recovery Programme is very effective. Talk with Monsignor Arahill for details.
  • Leaving a bequest to the parish means your involvement in the ministry and caring continues.
Further details on these topics are available from the Parish Office.
