Prayers

Our Father for Priests

Our Father in heaven, give us priests according to your heart
That your name will be hallowed.
Give us priests according to your heart
That your will will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us priests according to your heart
To give us each day the bread of life.
Give us priests according to your heart
To forgive us our sins.
Give us priests according to your heart
That we be not led into temptation.
Give us priests according to your heart
And deliver us and all of your priests from evil.

AMEN

Prayers for Peace

Almighty God,
our refuge and strength
have mercy on our
broken and divided world.
Pour your peace
into the hearts of all
and banish the spirit
that makes for war,
injustice and terrorism
that all races and cultures
all nations and peoples
may learn to live as one family
in obedience to your law of
love and forgiveness
through Jesus Christ your Son.

AMEN

Lord Jesus, Prince of Peace
take away the cruelty,
prejudice and revenge
and in their place
give mercy, justice and peace.
In this time of conflict
give to all leaders
wisdom and imagination:
turn barriers into bridges,
suspicion into trust
and hatred into love,
that all may live in peace and harmony.
We pray in your holy name.

AMEN

God of unity and truth,
you have bound us together
in a common life:
Help us in this time of conflict
and suffering to confront one another without hatred and bitterness,
to listen to your voice of love amid competing claims
and to work together with mutual forbearance and respect
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

AMEN

Act of Commitment

We commit ourselves
to build a better world -
a world in which people relate with reverence to nature and each other; a world where pollution is eliminated

We shall work
to create a better community -
a community where people are more concerned for the welfare of others
than for themselves;
where special attention is given to
the needs of the less advantaged;
where each person shares
in the decision-making;
where no-one is deprived
of friendship or acceptance;
a community where individuals
of diverse race and culture
live in harmony with mutual respect.

To this end we will seek to identify and control those forces in our society which produce injustice, disharmony and selfishness and to support all that promotes beauty and happiness, health and community.

This is the world
we long to build.
We will seek to
forgive,
love,
share and
grow as persons
so that these dreams and hopes
may come true.

AMEN

God help us to change,
To change ourselves
and to change our world.
To know the need for it
To deal with the pain of it
To feel the joy of it
To undertake the journey
Without understanding the destination.
The art of gentle revolution.

Give us O God, a vision of our world
as you would have it be -
A world where the weak are protected,
and none goes hungry or is poor,
Where the goods of this life are shared
and everyone can enjoy them,
Where different nations, races and cultures
live with tolerance and mutual respect,
Where peace is built with justice and
justice is guided with love:
And give us O God
the courage and the inspiration
to build it.

Amen

Glory be to the Father
and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning
Is now and ever shall be.

AMEN

Blessings

May the showers of God's blessings fall upon you
May the streams of Christ's love refresh you
May the rivers of the Spirit uphold you
May the blessed Trinity fill you with joy and peace.

May the Lord whose birds soar in the skies
May the Lord whose fish abound in the seas
May the Lord whose animals roam the plains
May the Lord whose children people the earth
Bless you abundantly through all your days.

May the Father who loves you bless you
May the Son who redeems you bless you
May the Spirit who enables you bless you
May the Holy Trinity bless you this and every day.

Be still and wait on God
May the silence of the Creator enfold you
May the silence of the Redeemer surround you
May the silence of the Comforter encircle you
May the silence of the Trinity surround you to eternity

May your feet walk in the way of the Lord
May your voice speak the word of God
May your hands serve God in blessing others
May your life show something of the glory of God
May you know the peace of God now and always.

As the fields are green with the coming of Spring
As the trees are clothed afresh with abundance of leaves
As the plants push through the earth's crust with new life

So may God grant you a new springtime of faith.

May the Father walk with you in the cool of the garden
May the Son walk with you on the mountain path
May the  Spirit walk with you in the pilgrim way
The blessing of the Father, Son and Spirit be on you always.

May the Great One who is both mother and father ,bless you
May the suffering servant who is both brother and sister, bless you
May the Great Spirit who is neither male nor female. bless you
The blessing of the Trinity, the Great Mystery
Be yours now and always.

LENT

We are in the Church Season called Lent characterised by the priest  (usually) wearing purple vestments at Mass.

"I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

John 10:10

God's Dream for me

Before
the world was made,
I was
in the mind of God.
God knew me.
God chose me.
God loved me.
God designed me
and desired me
just as I am.

God has a dream
for me now,
now for my life
and growth,
for my holiness
and wholeness.
No-one else
in the entire universe can fulfil
that dream of God,
except me.

To become myself,
my true self,
that is my life's work.
To grow is to change,
to be perfect
is to change often,
and
as long as I live
inner strength is possible.

To allow to shine forth
in all the world
that unique image of God that I am,
that hidden beauty
deep within my soul,
that truth which
I alone speak,
that love which
only my heart
is capable of giving.

To become myself
my true self....
my best self...
in Jesus...
open to God...
to live
to the world.
That is my vocation.
That is what I desire.
That for me is holiness.
