School Enrolment Guidelines

St Michael's is an integrated Catholic School. Enrolment is regulated by norms found in the Integration Agreement for Catholic Schools and the Enrolment policy of St Michael's School. Note: "Parent" includes "Guardian" or "Caregiver".

The system of preference is as follows:

Preference of Enrolment

The Integration Agreement for Catholic Schools states:

"Preference of enrolment at the school under Section 29(1) of the Private Schools conditional Integration Act 1975 shall be given only to those children whose parents have an established particular or general religious connection with the special character of the school and the controlling authority shall not give preference of enrolment to the parents of any child unless the Proprietor has stated that those parents have established such a particular or general religious connection with the special character of the school."

This normally means that at least one parent is baptised as a Catholic, that the child has also been baptised in the Catholic Church and that there is some evidence of recent identification with the Catholic Community, usually through the Catholic Parish.

Non-Preference Enrolment

The school is allowed to enroll non-preference children children up to 5% of its maximum roll. Non-preference children will only be accepted if there are no preference children seeking enrolment.

For those requesting preference enrolment, all applicants are to be interviewed by the Parish Priest. If preference is given, the parents receive a "New Zealand Catholic Bishops' Conference" Card, which certifies that the parents are eligible to have preference enrolment for their children in a Catholic Integrated School.

Here at St Michael's, we are anxious to establish a close bond between families, school, and parish. The family seeking enrolment at St Michael's must have an established connection with their Parish and normally live within the boundaries of St Michael's Parish, Remuera or St John's Parish, Parnell.

For more information on enrolling your child or children at St Michael's School, please feel free to contact the School on +64-9-520-0933

LENT

We are in the Church Season called Lent characterised by the priest  (usually) wearing purple vestments at Mass.

"I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

John 10:10

God's Dream for me

Before
the world was made,
I was
in the mind of God.
God knew me.
God chose me.
God loved me.
God designed me
and desired me
just as I am.

God has a dream
for me now,
now for my life
and growth,
for my holiness
and wholeness.
No-one else
in the entire universe can fulfil
that dream of God,
except me.

To become myself,
my true self,
that is my life's work.
To grow is to change,
to be perfect
is to change often,
and
as long as I live
inner strength is possible.

To allow to shine forth
in all the world
that unique image of God that I am,
that hidden beauty
deep within my soul,
that truth which
I alone speak,
that love which
only my heart
is capable of giving.

To become myself
my true self....
my best self...
in Jesus...
open to God...
to live
to the world.
That is my vocation.
That is what I desire.
That for me is holiness.
