Vision Statement

Saint Michael's is a Catholic School where all are committed to creating a loving, caring and joy-filled environment, inspired by Jesus Christ and gospel values. A place where children are challenged to attain the highest possible standards in all areas of life, within a community of family, school and church.

Background

St Michael's was established in 1916 on its present site in Beatrice Road, Remuera, Auckland, by the Religious Sisters of St Joseph who ran the school until 1977. Since then, Lay Principals have been appointed. The Sisters of Cluny were associated with the school until 1993. It serves the Roman Catholic Community of the Diocese of Auckland, and more specifically the Remuera and Parnell Parishes. Pupils represent several cultural and ethnic groups, and come from a variety of socio-economic groups. There is active parental participation in all aspects of school life.

The school, through its Board of Trustees, is committed to encourage personal achievement, excellence in education and a desire for all pupils to reach their own potential. The standards established will be maintained by the teachers and pupils.

The approved maximum roll of this school is 191. The number of non-preference (see Enrolment) pupils at St Michael's may be no more than nine. St Michael's is an eight-teacher school with a Principal, two Associate-Principals, and a Director of Religious Studies. There is a Teacher Aide, Reading Recovery teacher, Speech, Music, and Information Technology Specialists, Secretary, part-time Librarian and Cleaner/Caretaker.

St Michael's is governed by a Board of Trustees which consists of the Principal, the Teachers' Representative, five elected Parent Representatives and four appointed Proprietor's Representatives.

ADVENT

The Church's year is divided into seasons. We are now in the season of ordinary time, characterised by the priest (usually) wearing green vestments at Mass.

"I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

John 10:10

Lord, I offer you my seeking;
show me the way.
I offer you my doubts;
lead me to trust in you.
I offer you my hurts;
heal me.
I offer you my fears;
give me hope.
I offer you my loneliness;
welcome me.
I offer you my heart;
warm it with love.
I offer you my journey;
lead me home where
I can live in your justice, peace and love.
